What is Pamoja Pan-Africa?
We are a consortium of physicians, pharmacists and nurses of African descent in the African continent and in the Diaspora and information technology specialists who have come together to apply technological advances to improve healthcare delivery in Africa, by making electronic health records and health information exchanges available to physicians, hospitals, nurses, pharmacists, radiology services and laboratories.

Dear Citizens of Kenya,
On behalf of Pamoja Pan-Africa, it is both an honor
and a profound privilege to formally introduce our
integrated digital health platform, Dokita, to the
people of Kenya.
The word Pamoja is drawn from Swahili — the
beautiful and powerful language of East Africa —
meaning “together.” It is more than a name; it is our
philosophy. We believe healthcare works best when
patients, healthcare professionals, institutions, and governments move forward together —
united by shared information, shared responsibility, and shared commitment to
excellence.

01 What is DOKITA®?
It is the Electronic Health Record System (EHR) and Integrated Electronic Health Information Exchange (IEHIE) developed by Pamoja Pan-Africa, for use and application in sub-Saharan African countries. It takes into consideration the challenges faced by physician practicing in these areas as well as the available telecommunication infrastructure.
02 HOW IS DOKITA® DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ELECTRONIC HEALTH CARE RECORD SYSTEMS?
Dokita® is more than a traditional electronic health record system. At Pamoja Pan-Africa, we recognize the importance of other players in the healthcare ecosystem. We recognize that when everyone is brought into the fold, the quality of healthcare improves exponentially. We have therefore developed an integrated healthcare exchange where all the players have access to the relevant data to assist them in providing optimal care. With Dokita®, pharmacists, laboratory and radiology facilities are all part of an integrated platform with the physicians, nurses and hospital facilities. We believe that if we all work together, the patient benefits exponentially. Medical, surgical and medication errors are prevented and critical medical information are preserved.
03 What is an Electronic Health Record (EHR)?
EHR is a digital version of paper chart (hospital book). It is an efficient and effective way to use, store and communicate medical information across medical practitioners and other members of the health care team. The patient also has access to their medical records on a secure device.
